Eddie Brock had always been a man caught between shadows. From his days as a journalist to his transformation into Venom, he’d faced demons—both external and internal. But this time, he wasn’t just fighting for control over the symbiote; he was fighting to protect the world from the darkness threatening to consume it.
A City in Fear
It was a stormy night in New York City. Lightning streaked across the sky, and the rain fell in sheets, washing the city’s grime down into its sewers. Eddie lurked on a rooftop, feeling the symbiote pulse and shift around him, whispering in his mind. His relationship with the alien had always been one of control—sometimes he was the one in the driver’s seat, and other times, it took over. But tonight, it felt different.
Below him, the streets buzzed with chaos. People ran, screaming as shadows twisted and moved through the alleyways. Eddie’s senses sharpened as he felt an unnatural presence—a familiar one.
“Time to get to work,” he muttered, leaping from the building and letting the symbiote cover him completely. In an instant, Eddie Brock vanished, and Venom emerged—black, monstrous, with a mouth full of razor-sharp teeth and eyes like white slits.
Venom landed on the pavement, a crack echoing through the street. The people, startled, paused, unsure whether to run from the shadowy menace or hope he was there to help. “Where is it?” Venom growled, his voice echoing in the night.
A tendril shot out, grabbing a man who had been whispering frantically into his phone. “You’ve seen it, haven’t you?” Eddie’s voice softened slightly as he tried to control the symbiote’s aggression. “Tell us what you know.”
“Th-there’s something out there,” the man stammered. “Not like you—worse. It’s…eating people.” Eddie’s grip tightened as the symbiote’s hunger flared. The man screamed.
With a growl, Venom released him and bounded into the shadows, following the trail of fear. Whatever was stalking the city, it was something ancient, and if the symbiote was scared, it meant things were about to get messy.
The Voidbringer
Following the scent of the otherworldly creature led Eddie deep into the heart of the city—into the sewers, where the echoes of screams bounced off the wet walls. Venom’s tendrils clung to the walls, propelling him forward as he sensed the darkness thickening.
“What is it, Eddie?” the symbiote whispered, its voice filled with unease. “We know this smell…a kindred.”
Eddie’s eyes narrowed. Kindred? Another symbiote? No, it felt worse than that. The air was heavy, thick with the scent of rot and ancient, evil magic. As they rounded a corner, they found the source.
A hulking figure loomed in the darkness, its body a twisted amalgamation of shadows and writhing tendrils. Its eyes were pits of darkness, and its mouth opened to reveal rows of jagged teeth. Eddie’s instincts screamed to back off, but he was never one to run from a fight. “Hey, ugly!” he shouted, brandishing his claws. “You lost?”
The creature turned, and Venom could feel the pull of its presence. This was no ordinary enemy—it was Knull’s spawn, a fragment of the god of symbiotes. The creature was a Voidbringer, an ancient beast created to devour light and life.
The two collided, and the sewer walls shook. Eddie’s tendrils clashed with the Voidbringer’s as they wrestled for dominance, their roars echoing through the tunnels. The Voidbringer was fast—faster than anything Eddie had faced. It slammed him against the wall, its tendrils slicing through the symbiote’s flesh.
But Eddie fought back, his claws digging into the creature’s torso. The symbiote surged with rage, strengthening him as he tore chunks of shadowy flesh from his foe. “We won’t let you destroy this city!” he growled, throwing the Voidbringer back.
But even as he pushed it away, he could feel the beast’s power growing. The shadows around them seemed to respond to its call, merging into the creature and making it stronger. Eddie knew he had to change tactics.
He released his grip and leapt back, the symbiote forming protective armor around his body. “Fine, you want to play hardball?” he snarled, baring his fangs. “Let’s see how you handle this.”
Venom lunged, his tendrils morphing into massive blades. He slashed at the creature, severing its limbs, but every time he cut it down, the Voidbringer reformed, its shadowy mass regenerating. The fight dragged on, each clash more brutal than the last.
Allies and Enemies
The symbiote’s strength was waning. Eddie could feel it—the Voidbringer was draining their power, feeding on their energy. Just as it seemed like all was lost, a blinding flash of light filled the tunnel.
“Get down!” a voice shouted. Eddie rolled to the side as a blast of sonic energy hit the Voidbringer, causing it to screech and recoil. Venom turned, snarling, only to see an unexpected ally—Spider-Man.
“Spidey,” Eddie muttered, the symbiote’s tendrils retracting slightly. “What are you doing here?”
“Saving your butt, apparently,” Spider-Man replied, shooting another sonic web that blasted the Voidbringer back. “You know this thing?”
Venom growled. “It’s a Voidbringer—symbiote spawn. Knull’s magic is behind it.”
“Great,” Spider-Man said, eyes narrowing behind his mask. “We need to take it down. Together.”
Venom hesitated, but the symbiote’s survival instincts kicked in. They needed help. “Fine,” he grumbled, “but this doesn’t mean we’re friends.”
The two heroes attacked in unison—Venom’s strength and ferocity combined with Spider-Man’s speed and precision. The Voidbringer fought back, but together, they pushed it into a corner. Spider-Man fired web after web of sonic blasts, and Venom struck with his tendrils, ripping through the creature’s mass.
But as they fought, the Voidbringer unleashed its final form, expanding into a massive beast, its tendrils spreading throughout the tunnel, trying to consume them both. Eddie felt the pull—Knull’s power was trying to corrupt him again, trying to take control.
“Stay strong, Eddie!” Spider-Man shouted, blasting the creature’s core with all the sonic power he had.
With a roar, Eddie summoned the last of his strength. The symbiote surged, its eyes glowing white as it took on its most monstrous form yet—tendrils like blades, claws like daggers. “We are Venom!” he shouted, plunging into the Voidbringer’s chest.
The beast shrieked, its form collapsing as Venom tore through it, ripping its heart of darkness apart. With one final scream, the Voidbringer disintegrated, its shadowy tendrils evaporating into the air.
A New Balance
Eddie fell to the ground, panting as the symbiote retracted. Spider-Man extended a hand, and for once, Eddie took it. “Not bad,” Spidey said, helping him up. “Guess we make a pretty good team.”
“Don’t get used to it, web-head,” Eddie replied with a smirk, though he felt a strange sense of camaraderie. “This city’s still my responsibility.”
As the rain continued to fall, Eddie looked up at the night sky, feeling the symbiote’s whispers quieting, its hunger sated—for now. He knew the battle was far from over. Knull’s influence was spreading, and the Voidbringers were just the beginning.
But with new allies and a renewed sense of purpose, Eddie felt ready for whatever darkness lay ahead. After all, he was Venom—the protector of the shadows.
And he would never stop fighting.
